Jun 10, 2025 | Blog, Microneedling

Many people struggle with loose, sagging skin that often affects their physical appearance. However, there’s a solution that’s quickly gaining attention. At  V Plastic Surgery, we’re proud to offer Pixel8 RF microneedling, an advanced skin-tightening treatment that combines radiofrequency technology with microneedling for remarkable results.

Under the skilled hands of Dr. Rahul Vemula, we recently treated a patient targeting the tummy area and obtained wonderful results. Dr. Rahul Vemula and his highly competent team at V Plastic Surgery aim to utilize this advanced treatment approach to help New Jersey patients address common skin imperfections and achieve a more radiant appearance.

Skin Laxity as a Common Aesthetic Concern

Many factors may contribute to sagging skin, lines, and wrinkling, often referred to collectively as skin laxity. A common trigger, as experienced by many of our past patients, is the physical change that follows pregnancy. After having two pregnancies back-to-back, our patients developed loose skin and noticeable wrinkling, particularly problematic around the belly button area, and lines extending across their abdomen. Their goal was to find an effective method for skin tightening.

What Is Pixel8 RF Microneedling Technology?

To address concerns about skin laxity, Dr. Vemula recommended the Pixel8 RF microneedling treatment as an innovative solution that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy for enhanced skin tightening results.

How does it work?

The Pixel8 device uses ultra-fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. At the same time, it delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy deep into the skin layers. This dual-action approach stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, helping to firm and tighten the skin over time.

The treatment is effective for areas with sagging skin and lines. While highlighted for the tummy in this instance, Pixel8 RF may be used all over the body. Pixel8 specifically targets laxity located right underneath the skin, treating it from above.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?

RF microneedling is particularly suitable for individuals experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity, especially those seeking a non-surgical option to enhance abdominal firmness. It can be a great choice for postpartum women or individuals who have experienced weight loss and want to improve skin tone without undergoing surgery. However, a consultation with a licensed practitioner is essential to determine if this treatment aligns with the patient’s goals and skin type.

Advanced Skin Tightening Procedure Approach

Patient comfort is a key consideration during this procedure. The process begins with applying numbing cream to the treatment area. This cream is left on for approximately 30 minutes to allow it to take effect. Just before the treatment starts, the area is cleaned with acetone.

During the treatment itself, a device known as a “simmer Chiller” is used. This device provides cool air directly to the treatment site. Its purpose is to help manage pain during the procedure. It’s likened to having a “little personal air conditioner” available throughout the treatment.

Once the area is prepared and the cooling device is ready, the RF microneedling device is activated. When activated, the device delivers a beam of energy. Small needles extend from the device to deliver this energy into your skin.

Complementary Treatments to Address Laxity at Multiple Depths

When it comes to treating skin laxity, a multi-layered approach is often the most effective. In fact, many patients had previously undergone a treatment called J-Plasma, also known by the brand name Renuvion, to tighten skin in the abdominal area.

How does J-Plasma/Renovation work?

This advanced technology uses cold plasma energy to gently contract tissue beneath the skin’s surface, effectively addressing skin laxity in the deeper layers. It’s a powerful solution for foundational tightening.

Pixel8 RF microneedling, on the other hand, works closer to the skin’s surface, targeting superficial laxity and enhancing skin tone and texture. Together, these treatments can deliver comprehensive results—J-Plasma for deeper tissue contraction and Pixel8 for surface-level firming.

Results and Aftercare

RF microneedling stimulates collagen production and promotes skin tightening by delivering radiofrequency energy to the deeper layers of the skin. While results may not be immediate, most patients begin to see noticeable improvements in texture and tightness within a few weeks, with continued benefits over several months. A series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results. Mild redness and swelling are common after the procedure. However, these usually subside within a day or two. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and follow post-care instructions to support healing and maximize results.

Conclusion

If you’re concerned about skin laxity, treatments like Pixel8 RF microneedling offer minimally invasive options worth exploring. A personalized consultation with an experienced provider, such as Dr. Rahul Vemula, can help determine whether a single treatment or a customized combination is best suited to your unique goals.
