Thigh Lift Monmouth County
Thighplasty in Monmouth County, Jersey Shore, and West Long Branch
Thigh lift surgery – also referred to as thighplasty – is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat deposits from the upper thigh region. This treatment is commonly offered to men and women who develop excess thigh skin due to dramatic weight loss. Although surgeons focus on lifting the inner thigh, the procedure can also target the outer thighs in order to reveal smoother, slimmer hips.

He offers specialized thigh lift surgery in order to help his patients attain thinner, firmer legs. As double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Vemula has helped countless men and women refine and tone their upper legs. He is also on call for patients from surrounding Jersey Shore areas such as Brick, Toms River, Ocean County, Middlesex County, Central New Jersey, and New York City.
Candidates for Excess Thigh Skin Removal in Monmouth County NJ
A thigh lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to remove excess skin and fat from the inner thigh, outer thigh, knee, and hip regions. You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you:
- Are looking for firmer, youthful-looking legs
- Have wrinkled/sagging skin on your thighs as a result of weight loss
- Previously had liposuction that left the skin on your legs loose
During your initial consultation visit at V Plastic Surgery, Dr. Vemula will listen to your concerns and conduct an evaluation to help determine whether this procedure is for you. Patients who have good skin elasticity but need fat removed from their thighs may only need liposuction. In some cases (especially when skin elasticity is very poor) a thigh lift may be combined with liposuction for the best outcome. Dr. Vemula will assess your thighs and create an individualized treatment plan to attain the best possible outcome for you.
Types of a Thigh Lift
Surgeons can choose from two different types of thigh lifts depending on what’s needed to achieve the patient’s desired outcome:
- Medial – This procedure aims to get rid of excess skin and fat from the upper parts of the inner thigh, resulting in a firmer, contoured appearance. A horizontal incision will be made in order to remove the excess skin and fat.
- Standard – A standard thigh lift is the most common type of procedure designed to reshape, tone, and contour the upper legs. This approach is typically used with patients who have lost significant weight leading to a not-so-ideal thigh appearance. A vertical and horizontal incision is required.

Dr. Vemula’s Technique
Thighplasty (Thigh Lift)
Dr. Vemula’s thigh lift technique is influenced by the amount of excess skin present. In less extensive cases, a medial thigh lift will be performed whereby a crescent of tissue is removed from the upper thigh. Dr. Vemula utilizes advanced surgery techniques and aims to accomplish the best thigh lift possible while minimizing the risk of scarring from incisions and other complications. This procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Dr. Vemula and his team will need about 3 hours to complete the surgery, after which you’ll be observed for a while then discharged to continue with recovery at home. Dr. Vemula is committed to delivering beautiful results, along with patient safety, when performing thighplasty for his patients.
Planning your Thighplasty in Monmouth County
You will need to have a responsible adult to drive you home and help out with chores and tasks after surgery. Recovery following a thighplasty varies from one patient to the other. However, most patients experience pain and discomfort that can be relieved with medication. You will be asked to rest as much as possible and avoid leg movements for about 10 days. Many of Dr. Vemula’s thigh lift patients are able to get back to their regular work routines within 6 weeks. You will need permission from your NJ thighplasty surgeon before you can engage in exercise or other strenuous activities.
The cost of a thigh lift in New Jersey is influenced by various factors including surgeon’s fees, anesthesiologist fees, and facility fees. Most of Dr. Vemula’s patients in Monmouth County, Jersey Shore, and Ocean County can expect prices to vary from case to case, especially if another procedure is needed, such as liposuction. Since thighplasty is considered to be an elective cosmetic procedure, insurance typically does not cover it.

Thighplasty FAQs
How do I prepare for a thigh lift?
You will need to quit smoking four weeks before thighplasty and continue to avoid exposure to nicotine products for 6 weeks following surgery. Medications such as ibuprofen, NSAIDs, and blood thinners should be discontinued before surgery as well. You should also avoid eating or drinking on the day of the surgery. During your initial consultation with Dr. Vemula at V Plastic Surgery in Monmouth County, you’ll be given precise preoperative instructions that you should strictly adhere to.
How is recovery?
Recovery following a thigh lift is generally longer compared to other plastic surgery procedures. You will need a ride home after surgery. Some discomfort and swelling is common for up to a week post surgery. Most patients are able to get back to their daily routines within 2 months, but you may need to wait longer before you can exercise or engage in other strenuous activities.
When can I see my results?
You will be able to get a glimpse of your new, slimmer and contoured thighs right after surgery. However, the full outcome is only evident after the complete thigh lift recovery timeline. During this time, your body will have completely healed and all swelling will have subsided.
Can I combine a thigh lift with other procedures?
A thigh lift may be combined with an arm lift or other body contouring procedures to suit your preferences. Dr. Vemula, however, does not recommend any combination of procedures whose total operative time exceeds 6 hours.
